National Day's coming! and once again, I can feel the patriotism arising within me =) Every morning I have this urge to kick the "sexy" ass of this guy from the class next to mine cause he ALWAYS fidget during the national anthem.
Anyway, wat is it like to be a true Singaporean?
1) I can scold people in 3 languages and one dialect.
2) I can join a long queue and have absolutely no idea what I'm queuing for.
3) I can shop like crazy during the Great Singapore Sale without feeling guilty.
4) I stop eating chicken when they first announce the bird flu and continue eating it after one week
5) I luv Giordano and Hang Ten! They're full of sales!
6) I smuggle 30 boxes of chewing gum whenever I'm back from overseas.
7) I jaywalk every day except when I see the police man.
8) Free stuff is a MUST TAKE!
9) I go crazy and sing national day songs while walking along the streets of Orchard road.
10) I criticise ANYTHING n EVERYTHING.
11) I complain everyday about every single thing tt happens.
12) I buy anything that's on sale without thinking is it worth the money.
13) I wear only solid colour clothes, namely black, blue, white, pink.
14) I only know the names of the top schools and nothing else
15) I will wanna send my kids for piano, taekwando, ballet, art n craft, tuition, pilates, yoga lessons.
16) I aspire my child to become a doctor, lawyer, minister
17) I live in a HDB flat but think that condo is my next ultimate aim.
18) 5Cs are not enough, bungalow is better than condo
19) There is no next best alternatives to cars
20) Taking a 30 mins bus ride is LONG 21) I think we should have a casino, then again, maybe not22) Every long wkend will be a trip up to m'sia!23) I nv talk about PAP in public24) I dun help when people are in trouble, it's best to stay out of everything25) Let's just leave decisions to the govt26) Even before the results of the general election are out, I already know them.27) 4D n ToTo is a weekly hobby28) My year is filled with activities. From hari raya, to chinese new yr, to total defence, to good friday, to labour day, to vesak day, to racial harmony day, to youth day, to national day, to teachers' day, to childrens' day, to deepavali, to christmas day. There's also anti drug abuse, anti-smoking, being clean n green, be courteous, being romantic, etc etc. One day we've end up celebrating the birthdays of our ministers29) I will get sued for every mistake I make30) It's NEVER safe to mention LKY
31) I MUST watch watever show tt everyone's talking about32) I read the LIFE! section everyday (n only tt)33) I think reading the TIME mag is intellectual34) PRCs are WEIRD35) I may live on a small red dot, but my ego is bigger than the whole of China36) I go to hawker centre and order in Hokkien37) Eating at mac is unhealthy, burger king's better38) Who will ever forget our very own ice cream man along the streets of orchard road (tingalingaling!)39) Eavesdropping to whatever the person at the next table is saying is a talent I'm born with.
40) I have this faded memory of waking up at 4 in the morning to queue for some Hello Kitty toy
On the whole, I enjoy being a Singaporean... lol
